TRADE RUMORS:
Donovan Mitchell's strong preference would be to traded to the Knicks (according to Tim MacMahon).
It sounds like the Knicks and Jazz are close on Donovan Mitchell for Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, and Obi Toppin and what sounds like 4-5 1st round picks and 3 swaps, with the focus on protections and the ball in Utah's court (according to Tommy Dee).
The Knicks had backed away from the Jazz's initial asking price of Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and six 1st round picks for Donovan Mitchell (according to Tony Jones).
The Lakers re-engaged the Pacers and offered Russell Westbrook and draft compensation for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. No deal is close (according to Marc Stein). The draft compensation being offered is their 2027 1st round pick. Indiana would accept if Los Angeles also offered their 2029 1st round pick. The talks are now dead (according to Bob Kravitz).
A Lakers trade for Buddy Hield without Myles Turner could perhaps include Talen Horton-Tucker instead of Russell Westbrook (according to Dave McMenamin).
The Lakers will not trade for Buddy Hield or Eric Gordon until they are absolutely sure that they will not be unable to trade for Kyrie Irving (per McMenamin).
It’s pretty clear that LeBron James has no interest in playing another year with Russell Westbrook (per McMenamin). Russ’ dynamic with the Lakers grows more untenable every week (according to Jovan Buha).
The Lakers have no plans to trade Talen Horton-Tucker to the Jazz for Patrick Beverley as they have been prioritizing speed and youth this offseason (according to Marc Stein).
People around the league say that there is a school of thought that some think that Kevin Durant's trade request was more about getting Kyrie Irving out of Brooklyn than himself (according to Dave McMenamin).
The Nets aren't super high on Andrew Wiggins or Jordan Poole as the centerpiece of a Kevin Durant trade and the Warriors don't want to budge on Jonathan Kuminga or give up a ton of picks so a deal is unlikely (according to Zach Lowe).
Ben Simmons' trade value is the lowest it's ever been, and the Nets are wary of selling low on him. They don't want to trade him just to get rid of Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving (according to Lowe).
While there has been internal consideration of the Heat using Bam Adebayo in a trade, at least one influential member of the organization has shot down that idea (according to Ira Winderman).
The Jazz are trying to trade Bojan Bogdanovic and there's rumblings of the Raptors but nothing is imminent or close (according to Tim MacMahon).
